WE ENABLE AND PASSIONATELY ADVOCATE FOR THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE.
To us, the most fundamental solution to solving complex issues in our food system is to foster agricultural practices that produce healthy soil.
“Eating is an agricultural act.” - Wendell Berry.
By nurturing and promoting the health of our soil, we can lay the groundwork for a regenerative and resilient food system that addresses a multitude of complex issues.
1 [What we mean by regenerative agriculture and healthy soil]
We place our trust in regenerative agriculture, where the objective of cultivation aligns with nurturing healthy soil. We firmly reject the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers within our food system, prioritizing practices that promote the well-being of the environment and people. We acknowledge that the transition takes time, but expect farmers in our network to have a clear timeline and vision for phasing out conventional pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
2 [Empowering farmers]
We work to empower the work of pioneering farmers and existing initiatives that support regenerative agriculture.
We firmly believe in honouring the invaluable contributions of farmers and their vital role in cultivating the land and producing food. We advocate for a deep sense of stewardship, recognising farmers’ responsibility toward the land and the nourishing sustenance they provide.
3 [Holistic food system]
We advocate for a regenerative food system that embraces the symbiotic relationship between agriculture, the well-being of our planet and human health. Our vision is to cultivate a harmonious ecosystem where food production prioritizes the vitality of both the Earth and humans, fostering biodiversity and nourishing the well-being of all.
4 [Decision-making principles]
We strive for the utmost level of regeneration in all our actions. With a combination of patience and ambition, we meticulously approach our work and decision-making to ensure that our choices have a lasting and positive impact, both in the present and for future generations. We are transparent about why we accept members and how we choose to fund projects.
5 [Diversity and gender]
We deeply value and appreciate the richness of diversity and we believe that our collective strength is amplified when we embrace our differences. Foodprint Nordic places a high priority on fostering diversity, particularly in terms of gender, age, regional representation both within our team and throughout the grant process. By actively seeking multiple perspectives and providing inclusive opportunities, we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.
6 [Interdisciplinary]
We value interdisciplinary collaboration across sectors uniting toward a shared objective of improving food quality and soil health. We recognize that assuming responsibility and advocating for change can be challenging and uncomfortable when done alone. Therefore, we actively seek partnerships and alliances with others who have shared values to collectively address these issues, understanding that together we can make a greater impact.
7 [Connections]
We acknowledge the fragmentation between all parts of the food system, including producers, restaurants and communities. We aim to foster a renewed sense of collaboration, promoting land stewardship and the restoration of interconnectedness toward a flourishing and regenerative future.
